I went to Fort Wayne, IN for a Matilda Jane Conference.
My dad was heading that way for golf stuff so we drove together and he dropped me off!
Jonathan hooked me us up with a care package and a sweet encouraging note!
The first night was a big party and I was so intimidated. 400 girls under 1 tent and half of them all knew each other and having fun and the other half were newbies like me just kind of standing around and trying to mingle. It honestly felt like sorority rush all over again! ha
Of course the typical question when I was meeting everyone was..
so, how many kids do you have? A question that hurts my heart but has to be answered.
I always said 4 girls, 2 in heaven and 2 with me. I know I made several people uncomfortable but most were really sweet. It gave me the opportunity to tell them the reason I wanted this job and talk about how they sent me a share the love package.
By the end of the weekend I had met so many wonderful Godly woman who were so encouraging to me. I was so happy to talk about Evie and Catherine and God was in almost every conversation I had with someone. Which i think is very hard to find in the workplace. You always have to be so careful.
The best conversation I had was with three girls on the very last night as we were walking from watching fireworks back to the hotel. One girl had her appendix removed right before the trip and she was talking about it when we got back to the hotel. We stopped to talk for a bit and another girl with us just kind of out of nowhere said, have you guys read the book Heaven is For Real. I said i had, that someone had given it to us when our daughter passed away, it just kind of came out! They both looked at me like oh my gosh what happened. So I shared my story with them and of course by the end we all were crying.
All of a sudden, I thought wait why did you ask if we had read that book? She said it was because the boy was having his appendix removed. We all three thought God was completely in that conversation. Its hard to explain with typing but it was a wonderful conversation.
I started the week so intimated and left on Sunday so encouraged and blessed to have this job and to work with an amazing group of women.
I am so thankful God gave me this opportunity and excited to start this new journey.
