Happy 6 Month birthday baby girls! This post is a little late but we didn't have their appointment until this morning!

The girls started drinking just 1 cc in the nicu and moved up to 2 ounces by the time they came home now they drink 6 ounces during the day and 8 ounces before bed!

They were in preemie diapers until they were 2 mths old and now wear size 2 diapers!

Evie is doing so much better with her head control. The doctor is sending us to a neurologist for her head shape so we will let you know how that goes.
She went to physical therapy last week and has improved so much. They will now see her once a month instead of twice. She is doing great looking to the right and keeping her head that way. She follows toys all the way from left to right, she used to stop midway. Another thing Jodi said to do was work on getting her to look up. Her back neck muscles are still a little week and she usually keeps her head down even when we put her on her belly.

I love reading to the girls. Being a prek teacher i know how important it is. They retain so much in the first few years. Even though you think what you are saying is pointless, their brains are storing and storing!

If you know Jonathan at all you know how involved he is and what a great girl dad he is! haha We always joke about how he will be the dad who wants to hang out during the girls sleepovers talking about anything and everything. He is willing and does takes care of them by himself. He is more patient and laid back and that is great cause i am not sometimes. He walks straight in the door from work and before doing anything sits down and plays with them. It is so fun to see them get so excited to see him. Evie loves him the most. She watches him and follows him wherever he goes and smiles at him all the time.

We will be starting rice cereal and first foods this week so more pics to come of that yummy messiness:) We gave them some bananas Sunday. Ramsey cried for more and Evie wasn't sure what to think so we will see.
As i am typing this my Evie girl is sick again. She started throwing up during her nap today and she wines unless i am holding her :( Everyone else is asleep but we are cuddling. I rarely get this one on one time so i am not complaining!

We were in the target parking lot the other day waiting for Jonathan and i heard Ramsey making some "grunting" noises so i got her out of the car seat to change her diaper in the front and when i checked her she smiled so big and was as clean as a whistle! She tricked me! So i sat her in the front seat until daddy got there. ( Evie was sound asleep in the back, so dont worry we werent leaving her out)

Her and Evie are talking up a storm. You can hear Ramsey a little in the video. Whenever we have music on she does that also. We notice it most when Taylor Swift, Katie Perry or Black eyed peas come on! haha I think you can hear Katie Perry in the background

We are so thankful for our Nana, she is always such a big help and makes the girls so happy when she is around! We love you, Happy Birthday!

Well yesterday was supposed to be an exciting day, Sara was coming in town! Sara was one of my roommates all through college and i haven't seen her in forever. She lives way over in East Tennessee but she will be coming to Memphis some for work so we will get to see her more.
Anyway, she came over to my parents last night and we headed to dinner with the girls and my mom. While we were there Evie starts throwing up over and over and gets real pale and lethargic so of course i freak out.
Sara and my mom stayed took Ramsey home and i ran over to urgent care. The whole time in the car she is dry heaving and gagging and crying, pitiful! We get there and it was coming from everywhere if you know what i mean, haha TMI
They took her temp and it was 100 so not very high, which was a relief. Then they did her blood pressure and pulse and it was way to fast and high for their liking.
They decided she was dehydrated, she certainly had nothing left in her. Then they tried to do some blood work but Evies lines were "flat"( i might be saying that wrong, but i think that is what they were saying) and they couldn't get anything or get an IV in her either to give her fluids. Several nurses tried and they tried both feet, both hands and her arm fold. Finally got some blood but never got it to where they could give her an IV. I have never heard Evie cry so hard, I thought i was going to loose it! She is all bruised up today :( Her heart rate stayed up but she eventually just fell asleep from pure exhaustion i think.

In the meantime her blood work came back normal, another relief. They decided to try Pedialyte. She hated it and what she did drink she would spit right back out, It was grape flavored, yuck.
Her heart rate went down to normal after about 2 hrs of being there and since her blood work was normal and she hadn't thrown up in a few hours, they decided to let us go home. The doctor give us a prescription for Zofran and told us to get some unflavored pedialyte and water it down or use a syringe to give it to her. Amber and i ran to Walgreens and while i waited for the zofran, she tried to give her the pedialyte and she would wine and push the bottle out every time, it was funny, we had to find humor at this point!
We finally made it to my parents around 11:00 or so and i used the syringe and that worked, thank goodness. She fell asleep and my mom slept on the couch in their room, sweet Nana! My mom woke her up once to give her some more and she slept until about 8. We started giving her some formula again at lunch because she was able to keep the pedialyte down. We started with 2 ozs and worked our way up to her normal 6-7 before she went to bed. So far so good. She was laughing and being normal tonight so i guess it was just a 24 hr bug or something. Who knows! Lets hope Ramsey doesn't get it but if she does we know what to do this time and we have all the goods:) My first "new" mom freak out. I am sure there are more to come!

a weekend of FIRSTS

The girls finished their FIRST 5k saturday morning! We participated in the Forrest Spence 5k at Overton Park. Our friends from college, Brittany and David Spence have a son, Forrest who was with them for a short time but made a huge impact on me and many other people. They set up the Forrest Spence fund to raise money for families with sick children in the midsouth area. We were fortunate to receive a basket full of things we could use while Evie and Ramsey were in the NICU. You can get more information and read their story at www.forrestspencefund.com.

Later on that day the girls experienced their FIRST Tennessee loss. We wont talk about that...

on a happier note, maybe not for Jonathan, they had their FIRST date Saturday night! haha

Since Jonathan and i were depressed about the game we decided we needed some late night krystal! A FIRST for us since college and it was oh soooo delicious!
Sunday i took the girls to their FIRST Germantown Festival. I grew up going to the festival and love it! This year was fun but definently not as relaxing strolling around kiddos and holding one who screamed for half the time, we wont mention names...Ramsey...it was much harder looking at everything but these were some of my favorite booths.

such cute stuff! Emily, Natalie and me were exhausted by the time we got to the car. "Gone are the days of jumping into your car and leaving" (Emily) haha Atleast i had help (thanks Natalie) getting the double BoB into the car! Some random girl had to help me Friday morning when i went to shelby farms, embarrassing, I need to lift weights more i guess.
Now i am watching the MTV Awards and about started crying for Taylor Swift. Kanye West is stupid. I dont even know what i would do if that happened to my sweet little girls!

It's football time in Tennessee

It was Great -to be- a Tennessee Vol this weekend!! Eventhough it was only the first game, we are very excited about our new hottie coach and hope the Vols win some more!! My birthday was also this weekend, the big 2-7. I am getting old, but the fact that Jonathan will be 30 in december makes me feel better!

Jonathan's brother Michael offered to keep the girls so we could go to dinner, so Friday we certainly took him up on this offer. We got the girls to bed and he stayed at our house while we ate at Spindini downtown. We have never been before and heard such great things and they were right, it was delicious! After dinner we went to the Cheesecake corner. Our friends Jenny and Brock took us there for the first time when they lived in Memphis. We haven't been in so long so it was a nice treat.

Saturday was Football and birthday time!! We went to the Frazees to watch the spanking...i mean UT game and of course got all dolled up in our orange! Notice the Footballs on the bows... their daddy did that:)

Saturday night we went to the Crawfords to watch the bama game and cook out. Several people came in town for the ole miss/memphis game so it was fun catching up with everyone. We dragged our poor girls along as usual but they did great. They are quite the social butterflies.

We got them ready for bed and they slept in the guest room while we were there.

Jonathan thought Ramseys feet were cold and coozies were the solution.....

Don't turn us in or anything, she did not sleep with them on :)

Sunday, Jonathans dad, Bonnie, stepsister, niece and nephews came to play with the girls so we could go to the Ole miss/Memphis game. Jonathan's niece Mallory is having a sweet little girl, Audrey, in November so i am sure they enjoyed the practice! Thank you so much for coming, we hope you had fun!

Ole Miss won but we still love our Memphis Tigers!!

This morning Jonathan and Rob played golf with friends so me, Amber and the girls went swimming for probably the last time this summer boohoo :(

I am starting to think the girls love guest rooms because we put them in Beckys for their nap and they sleep for over 2 hours. Either that or they had an exhausting wkd! They definently stayed out past curfew Saturday night so who knows!
