They tried to make me go to rehab.....

This morning we tried out some toys and did some therapy!

We went to Baptist Rehab and they gave us some tips to help them "catch up". I never knew this but with preemies you have a chronological age, their actual birthday age, which is 9 weeks and a developmental age, when they were supposed to be born, which is 2 weeks. So pretty much the girls should be doing things a 2 week old would be doing, which isn't too much. They should be completely caught up by the time they are 2 years old. We will go to rehab again in July and hopefully they will be doing better.

They start to follow toys when i move them across their faces and turn their heads when i shake something on their side. They are starting to look at me when i talk to them and are putting their hands together. Ramsey holds her head up pretty good, but Evie doesn't yet. Evie also favors laying or turning her head to the left and we have to force her to go to the right. This is something they said was real important because the muscles will get stronger on one side and not the other which could cause problems later.

I have learned alot about babies development, good thing it was my major:) It is pretty cool to see them do something new! I attempted to sit them in their bumbos and they did pretty well in them. Had a little trouble holding up their heads but they looked pretty cute:)

First thing, we love looking at all the drawings and ginormous decals on the wall, they crack us up. Today, when we walked down the hallway they had two new decals.....hannah montana and miley cyrus! I am not kidding they are life size and stuck on the wall. Gotta love pediatrician offices!

Anyway, we saw the doctor and the girls are looking good. He is taking them off their apnia monitors which is great. Well sort of, i think i have found comfort in them and since they don't go off, they aren't annoying. The skin under their arms is so raw from the strap so i know they are glad to get them off! 

They got three shots and some oral meds. Poor things were not happy with those shots, so heartbreaking. Except i couldn't help but laugh because i have never seen them turn their bottom lips under and pout when they cried...It starts early i guess?!

He did think Ramsey had reflux so he put her on cimetidine. Hopefully it will help:)

I would also like to share with you how annoying getting a prescription is.... 

First the doctor said he emailed the prescription to the target on colonial by our house. Jonathan got there and it wasn't sent, he called the office and they said they would send it again. After i got my hair done i went to pick it up. When i got there it still wasn't there. So they call the office again and no answer, i was on my way out of target when over the intercom someone says..."Ramsey Harrison please come to the pharmacy" which tripped me out, and it was the first time i heard her name said together and realized my child has two last names... haha

Anyway i go back to the pharmacy and they said they just got the fax and it would be 10 minutes. So i waste time looking at books then go up there thinking it would be ready and the lady says, "Oh, there you are...we dont have that medicine here...ANNOYING! I guess the intercom didn't work that time. 

So they call it into the Kroger on mendenhall and i go there. When i get there they had just received the info so i had to again wait. The lady then asks, is your SON allergic to anything....man, did i name this child wrong. I said no SHE isn't! haha

10 minutes or so go by and once again i get called over the intercom so finally i think i am ready. Get up there and say i am picking up for Harrison, she looks and looks and says "its not ready yet" um you just called me, then another lady says yes we called, we need your insurance card and info, you are not in the system. (I had already given them the info)... I give them my info again and they say.."oh,there you are". I wait again and finally a total of 1 1/2 hours later i have my drugs!

I get home and proceed to give Ramsey her meds, put her back to sleep and then jonathan notices a sticker on the prescription bag that says FOR EYES ONLY...WHAT!!! WE FREAKED! We are frantically looking at the bottle and receipt thing and we did get the right stuff but someone elses label was stuck to our bag and that is what he read. I about had a heart attack. What a day!

The girls are growing and growing!

We go for their 2 month checkup on friday. I think they are supposed to get all their shots, so i am not excited about that :( Ramsey gets a little upset after she eats and arches her back so i am going to ask the doctor what he thinks about that. She loves to lay on her stomach after so she might just have a belly ache or a little reflux. I am anxious to see how much they weigh. Their 0-3 month and some newborn clothes are still too big so i would think they are 7 something but we will see. I might be surprised!

They are developing sweet little personalities and staying awake more which is so fun!! I love watching them look at everything and when i talk to them they are finally starting to look at me which makes me feel so special:) My original 40 week due date was May 9th so it is crazy to think they are just now supposed to be here.

The days go by so fast. My mom went back to work so Tuesday-Thursday  so it is just me during the day. I think i am getting the hang of handling two by myself. I sit them in their boppys on the floor to feed them which seems to work pretty well. I think the hardest part is if they are both upset i cant do anything about it. I have to comfort one and then the other. Maybe they are learning patience...maybe not :) We go for a morning walk with Maddie which was HORRIBLE the first time i did that, but today was much smoother. It has been so pretty this week so we are outside alot.

Last night they slept about 6 1/2 hours but every night is a different story and i have no clue what makes them sleep longer some nights then others. Jonathan took over the feedings last saturday night and i slept in the guest room with earplugs haha, the only way i wouldn't hear them crying and i slept from 11-10!! It was wonderful!!

Humboldt Strawberry festival

We took our first road trip with the girls today! We packed up and headed to Humboldt where my parents grew up. Just an hour trip so nothing crazy:) 

Mom and i made the girls their outfits and they looked so cute!! 

We had a good visit with family and enjoyed watching the parade.

6 Weeks old!!

6 weeks already!! They have been home for three weeks now....Our days seem to go by really fast but they have been really good. They are still sleeping really well. 4 hour increments during the day and then 5-6 hour increments at night. 

We are getting a little more vocal. They are pretty easy to calm though which is nice. Pacifiers are magical. Ramsey has one big dramatic cry, then stops and Evie sounds like she is in the worst pain of her life with really quick cries. We can easily tell them apart :) They are also staying awake a little bit more during the day, it is fun to see their beautiful blue eyes more!

They love each other so much, you can tell. We put them together and they somehow get closer and start holding hands or sucking on each others noses!

We have been taking the girls all over the place lately. We are taking advantage of the fact that all they do is sleep! They have been to all my favorite places. Holiday Ham, Bogies,La Baguette, El Porton, and of course Target!! The new target here is great, so shiny and new and the carts are so easy to push around. Mom had one with a car seat and i had one with the other car seat. Of course there was no room to put anything in the carts, but we managed:) I honestly don't know how i am going to do it alone!!

We go on walks twice and day early morning and at night when daddy gets home and of course Maddie loves this. Right now we are using our snap and go where you put the car seats in there and it works pretty good. They are too small for the BOB right now. Anyway since we use the car seats when we do it, every time we put them in their car seats, Maddie gets really excited. Which isn't good when we are going to put them in the car instead of walking, she gets very disappointed :(

Last wkd my dads family came in town from Humboldt and Jackson to see the girls. We had a great visit! The girls got to meet their only great grandparents which is so special!! Ramsey is my maiden name so that is where she gets her name

On Saturday our friends Stephanie and J.Ed came in town from nashville to meet the girls and Robert and Ashley came over also. We then headed to Bronte at Davis Kidd for lunch, so delicious! We had so much fun hanging out with them. Stephanie and J.Ed are expecting a sweet little boy in August!! We can't wait to meet Robbins!

They went to their first cookout Saturday night at our friend Robs house. They got to meet all their little friends, Kennon,Whit, and William. They did so good, of course no one wanted to hold them though ;)

On Monday our friends the Stiles and Wingos came over to bring us dinner and see the girls. Addie is getting so big so fast!! Ella was so sweet and looks at them and says "oh.. baby" haha

I took Evie to the heart doctor today. While they were in the NICU they noticed their ductus (sp) was open. This is normal for a baby who is still in the womb, by the time they get closer to their due date, it closes. Since the girls were born too early it hadn't closed. They closed Ramseys with medication but Evies closed on her own so they wanted to check and make sure it stayed closed. It was, yeah! Sweet girl did so good. I told her if she did really good i would take her to chikfila hehehe 

They weighed and measured her and she weighed 6 pds 3 ozs and was 19 inches long. Then they did and ekg and an ultrasound. The only time she cried was when they ripped the leads off her from the ekg, there were like 10, i would cry too. Then we headed to get a chicken biscuit and dr pepper, her favorite :) i did promise her... and she was good.

Right now my mom is sewing the girls some pants for their first Humboldt Strawberry Festival Friday!  I made them some onesies to match. Can't wait to see them in it! Don't worry we will have plenty of pics.
